Would you benefit from a clinic designed to help you build connection with your horse and hone your skills?

I am a big believer in the power of good horsemanship techniques to support riders of all levels - whether you are a keen trail rider or someone who wants to compete and target performance.

I use groundwork regularly in my own training regime with my 2 Eventing horses to :

-Improve connection

-Supple my horses & build topline

-Support my horses biomechanics

-Ensure my horses have variety in their work

-Build "play" into training and liberty keeping my horses inquisitive & engaged

-Ensure my horses can follow a "feel" on the ground making handling a joy

Come along to our Winter Horsemanship Clinic at the stunning Wairoa Lodge in Clevedon - designed to help you build or refresh your horsemanship, riding skills, confidence and connection with your horse so you can enjoy your equestrian pursuits - whatever they may be!

The day is organized into 3 sessions following a personalized goal setting session :

Session 1 - This session focusses on groundwork skills-building for safety & connection. It is an opportunity to hone existing skills or learn groundwork skills for the first time. The foundation groundwork skills inform all relational work with your horse on the ground and also build connection and understanding of ridden elements for safety. They also help to supple horses and build good biomechanics on the ground which supports work under saddle for safety and connection.

Session 2 - Using the round pen as a tool to introduce "games" and liberty. The round pen can be a fantastic tool to introduce liberty ideas to the horse however - there are some essential steps that need to be taught in order for the horse to feel comfortable in this smaller space and to ensure the horse does not feel "chased". The goal in using the round pen is to allow the horse to explore a step into working at liberty and to draw on their natural curiosity.

Session 3 - A ridden arena session focusing on safe riding principles, using bending techniques to keep the horse soft, supple and relaxed. The ridden session then progresses to exploring some ridden "working equitation" style obstacles and activities where rider can test & explore suppling techniques further in a low pressure and coach-supported situation.

Clinic cost - $215 - whole day clinic

Ground fee payable to Wairoa Lodge - $30 per horse

Participants need to have basic handling skills and the ability to keep control of their horse in a group teaching situation. If you are unsure, or would like to be more prepared, we recommend a one on one horsemanship lesson prior to a clinic.

Maximum of 8 riders. As a qualified teacher I am excellent at ensuring fair and equal attention is provided to all participants during group teaching.
