Would you benefit from a clinic designed to help you build connection with your horse and hone your skills?

Come along to our  Horsemanship & Rider Biomechanic Clinic - designed to help you build or refresh your horsemanship, riding skills, confidence and connection with your horse.

Learn techniques for safer riding, improved confidence and build competence both on the ground and under saddle with your horse.

The clinic is held at stunning Wairoa Lodge in Clevedon. The lodge boasts a beautiful 40 x 60m Andrew Bowen arena ( fibre & sand mix ) and round pen facilities.

The day is organized into 3 sessions following a personalized goal setting session :

Session 1 - Groundwork skills in main arena. This session focusses on groundwork skills-building for safety & connection. It is an opportunity to hone existing skills or learn groundwork skills for the first time. The foundation groundwork skills inform all relational work with your horse on the ground and also build connection and understanding of ridden elements for safety.

Session 2 - The second session builds on groundwork skills for connection, safety and introductory liberty techniques using the round pen. There is an opportunity for peer based sharing and feedback in a safe and constructive teaching environment.

Session 3 - A ridden arena session focusing on rider biomechanics both on the flat and with the option for those who would like to work on rider technique over poles or small jumps. We will start on the ground with some rider balance techniques and stretches then progress to rider biomechanics under saddle, before introducing poles and finishing with biomechanics over a small jump. ( Note - it is not mandatory to jump - the rider biomechanics session can cater to those who wish to work on the flat only. )

Participants need to have basic handling skills and the ability to keep control of their horse in a group teaching situation. If you are unsure, or would like to be more prepared, we recommend a one on one horsemanship lesson prior to a clinic.

Maximum of 10 riders. As a qualified teacher I am excellent at ensuring fair and equal attention is provided to all participants during group teaching.

Wairoa Lodge ground fee $30 per horse per day - payable to Wairoa Lodge Equestrian.

For those who require horse accommodation there is a nearby facility on Tourist road. For this or further information about the clinic please email us.
